China Schools: 'Xi Jinping Thought' Introduced Into Curriculum
China will introduce the political ideology of the Chinese President in its national curriculum. The Ministry of Education (MOE) in new guidelines said "Xi Jinping thought" that will be integrated from primary school up to university, will help "teenagers establish Marxist beliefs". According to MOE, it aimed "to cultivate the builders and successors of socialism with an all-round moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic grounding".
Since 2018 when "XiJinpingThought" enshrined into the constitution, it's been introduced across some universities and politicaly outhwings with extra-curricular activities."Xi Jinping Thought" has 14 main principles that emphasises Communist ideals as well as, call for "complete and deep reform" and "new developing ideas", promise for "harmonious living between man and nature", emphasise on "absolute authority of the party over the people's army" and "'one country two systems' and reunification with the motherland".According to state media apparatus-Global Times’ report-, while the focus on primary schools will be cultivating love for the country, the Communist Party, and socialism; in middle schools, the focus will be on experience and knowledge to help students form basic political judgments and opinions. On the other hand, theoretical thinking will be emphasized in colleges. According to education ministry official TianHuisheng’s statement to the Global Times, the ministry is also working on themes like party leadership and national defence education about new Curriculum.Although previous Chinese leaders’ political ideologies also incorporated into the party's constitution or thinking, only the party’s founder Mao Zedong’s ideology had been described as "thought"before, and only Mao and Deng Xiaoping’s names were attached to their ideologies.
