3 December International Day of People with Disabilities
UN Secretary General Guterres emphasized that innovation is the key to a fairer world for people with disabilities, in his message on 3 December International Day of People with Disabilities.
“Our world is facing a series of crises that disproportionately affect people with disabilities. We need transformative solutions to save the Sustainable Development Goals and not leave anyone behind,” Guterres said, underlining the need for more private and public cooperation in overcoming these crises.
In this context, Guterres emphasized that the public and private sector collaborations to be developed will support a transformation based on innovation and technology, and thus can play an important role in removing the barriers that prevent individuals with disabilities from accessing information, education and lifelong learning.
Based on this requirement, Guterres concluded his message by saying “Let's work together to find innovative solutions, today and every day, to build an accessible and equitable world for all”.
