From the Field: Working with nature to transform lives
“Nature-based solutions” are a significant factor in struggling with the climate crisis and also play a significant role in struggling with other difficulties, from health to food security and sustainable development.
IFAD, -the UN agricultural development agency-, gives support to many nature-based solutions that help small-scale farmers in the countryside adapt to climate change, and also empower their resilience to shocks.
IFAD’s assistance include several nature-based solutions such as prohibiting over-grazing in Tajikistan, supporting mangrove reforestation in Gambia which empowers the local ecosystem and contributes biodiversity and giving an assistance for a soil fertility project in Laos which is increasing food production for the people.
