Türkiye on the Road to UN COP31: Climate Change and the Zero Waste Vision
At a panel discussion organized by the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Istanbul Gelişim University and IGUSAM, Türkiye’s commitment to global climate diplomacy and the strategic importance of its national projects for a sustainable future were discussed. Türkiye, which will host the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, is at the center of the event, with a focus on the policies it will pursue in combating the climate crisis and its influence on the international stage.
Participants benefited from the expertise of two guest speakers—Aynur Acar, Chair of the Board of Directors of the TÜÇEM Association for Environmental Education and Waste Management, and Rahşan Bukni Ulus, a TÜÇEM member and Chair of the Board of Directors of Ulus Environmental Consulting—and gained insights on topics such as combating global warming, waste management, and access to clean water. They also had the opportunity to gain a detailed understanding of the global impact of local solutions and Turkey’s diplomatic and environmental influence in this process.
The discussion was moderated by Dr. Sibel Zengin, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations (English) at Istanbul Gelisim University.
